A Message from Our Principal

Dear Bowen High School Families,

I am the proud Principal of James H. Bowen High School.  The school and the community has a rich history.
The building that houses our school is over one hundred years old.  Age often brings wisdom and lessons that
last a life time.  This school has been a place of learning and growth for generations of families.

This year we have opened our doors to welcome newcomers from around the world.  We are working as a school community to ensure both access and engagement.   We are looking for creativity ways to make sure that all students are learning and growing on a daily basis.  I ask that all parents remember that high school is not the time to pull back or allow your children freedom without guidance.  High School instead is practice for the real world and we need you to partner with us to create those opportunities for your child to experience learning that is both independent, rigorous and relevant.

I believe in the importance of career and college exploration for all grade levels.  Every grade level need to attend college trips and career exploration trips.  So that every child can explore options for life after high school.  We honor all career choices i.e. college, trades and or apprenticeships.  There is a place and a need for all of them in our communities.   I know that I will see you at school event or game.

Sincerely,

Priscilla Horton
Principal
